Yumna Memon received her Master of Engineering degree in Mechatronics Engineering from Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET), Pakistan, in 2023, with a thesis titled “Design and Modelling of Tapered Shape Soft Pneumatic Actuator for Object Grasping.” She also holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechatronics Engineering from the same institution, completed in 2020. Her research focuses on origami-inspired manipulators, finite element modelling (FEM), and simulation-driven optimization of soft and bioinspired structures.
Since 2025, she has been a Research Fellow at the Bioinspired Soft Robotics Laboratory at the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT) in Genoa, Italy, where she conducts research on the design and FEM simulation of origami-based manipulators. Her work emphasizes additive manufacturing of flexible and biodegradable structures and the integration of origami mechanisms for advanced robotic applications
